Lounge Chair

Lounge Chair

Designed to be visually light, this chair is made from thin sections of ebonized English ash. The seat and back are hand woven with 500 meters of gossamer thin stainless steel wire. The seat is designed to catch the light, appearing to float between the frame.

The ash components were made entirely using a 3 axis CNC router, and blended together by hand shaping the joints. The stainless accent components are removable to allow the chair to be rewoven in the future, these are hand polished to a bright brushed finish.

Drawing Cabinet

Drawing Cabinet

The brief for this piece was to create a cabinet to hold a collection of drawings. The final design is based on an architect’s plan chest, with the classic shallow drawers given modern soft close runners, for a smoother and more precise action. The drawer fronts are graduated in size, with an undulating curve that modulates its shape as it goes down the cabinet.

Made with drawing preservation in mind, the cabinet uses conservation materials and finishes throughout. The drawer interiors are in unfinished beech, with the cabinet exterior in elm. The drawer fronts are made from gently rippled sycamore.

Side Table

Droplet Side Table

Mimicking a falling water droplet, the legs of this side table merge together to create a continuous form. It is sculpted so that every component is curved, meaning there are no hard edges from any perspective.

We’ve given this piece a slightly more satin finish than we would usually do, to give full voice to the rippled maple and to accentuate its tactile feeling.

Plant Stand

Plant Stand

This is an update of a classic piece of Victorian furniture, the Jardinière. We’ve taken the traditional dark woods of the original and replaced it with more contemporary ash legs, and and an elm top and base. The three legs kick out a little for elegance and stability and the top has a water resistant finish for any watering mishaps.

This stand can be made in a selection of different woods and the height can be adapted depending on its situation.

Erosion

Erosion Chair

The ambition with this design was to create a dining chair that was resolutely contemporary, whilst still making reference to classic chair construction. This chair uses a combination of CNC manufacturing and hand shaping to achieve its organically patterned seat back. The end result is an elegant chair with an edge.

Erosion is inspired by flowing aspects of nature, and the design reflects that in the curves, shapes and negative space. The seat and back are made from a single piece of quatersawn English oak.
